1. Overview
Beat Tap is an on-device video and beat editing app. You do not need a Beat Tap account, subscription, login, or internet connection to create edits. We do not sell personal information or include third-party advertising, tracking, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Internet access is used only for features that need it, including optional Shared Cloud transfers, Cloud Balance, App Store purchase verification, iCloud Photo Library downloads requested through iOS, support links, and services you deliberately open or share to.
2. Information we do not request
Beat Tap does not ask for your name, phone number, street address, contacts, precise location, health information, advertising identifier, Apple Account password, card number, or bank details. Apple processes App Store payments and provides signed transaction records; Beat Tap never receives your payment-card credentials.
Beat Tap does not use cookies, web tracking pixels, personalized advertising, ad identifiers, or third-party analytics in the app. It does not upload editing projects, beat timing, crops, full exports, face data, or audio for cloud editing or cloud project storage.
3. Device permissions
Photos and Files
Beat Tap requests Photo Library access so you can browse and import media, allow iOS to retrieve iCloud-backed originals when needed, and save completed exports to Photos. You may also choose videos or audio through Apple's Files interface. Beat Tap does not request microphone, camera, contacts, or location access.
You can change Photo Library permission in iOS Settings. Removing access may prevent importing, restoring projects, loading thumbnails, retrieving iCloud originals, or saving exports until access is restored.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Beat Tap schedules local reminders before Shared Cloud folders you own expire so you have time to extend them. Beat Tap does not currently use marketing notifications and does not collect a remote push-notification token for this reminder.
4. Local editing and saved projects
Editing, waveform generation, beat timing, crop work, thumbnail generation, project saving, and export preparation happen on your device using Apple frameworks. Beat Tap may create local working copies, thumbnails, waveform samples, beat timing, crop settings, clip timing, temporary exports, and saved-project files.
Saved projects can include a project name, thumbnail, beat timings, trim points, selected Photo Library asset identifiers, local file references, clip timing, crop and rotation settings, volume settings, timeline resolution, and frame-rate information. This project data stays in Beat Tap's app storage unless you choose to export or share it.
5. Optional Shared Cloud
Shared Cloud is optional. When you confirm an upload, Beat Tap creates temporary staging copies and uploads only the videos you selected, together with generated preview thumbnails, directly to private Cloudflare R2 storage. Beat Tap also sends the folder name you enter, file names, file sizes, media types, integrity checksums, upload and file identifiers, sharing-code records, storage allowance, creation and expiry times, and the Terms version and acceptance time associated with the upload.
Uploads remain available for the selected 3-day, 7-day, or 30-day period, including any time extension you purchase. Folder owners can delete the cloud copy early. Automated deletion and infrastructure processing may not complete at the exact expiry second, but expired or deleted cloud objects are no longer intended to remain available through Beat Tap.
Anyone with a valid, active, unexpired sharing code can access and download that folder without creating an account. Codes can be forwarded, so send them only to people you trust. Recipients may download videos into Beat Tap's local storage for offline editing; those local copies remain on each recipient's device until that recipient removes them or deletes the app.
Cloudflare processes the stored media and technical transfer information needed to operate Shared Cloud. Depending on its infrastructure and security systems, this may include IP addresses, request times, transfer logs, and file data under Cloudflare's terms and privacy practices.
6. Cloud Balance and App Store purchases
Cloud Balance is added through Apple In-App Purchase and does not require a separate Beat Tap login. Beat Tap verifies Apple-signed app and purchase transactions and derives a one-way pseudonymous customer key. This lets the same balance and owned cloud folders be recognized after reinstalling Beat Tap or moving to another device using the same Apple Account, without giving Beat Tap your Apple Account email or password.
The server ledger stores the pseudonymous customer key, balance and currency, Apple transaction and product identifiers, purchase quantities, upload and extension charges, refund or reconciliation status where available, and related timestamps. These records prevent duplicate crediting or charging, restore balances, associate owned folders, address refunds and disputes, and support legal or accounting obligations.
Cloud Balance itself does not expire while the service and the Apple-linked Beat Tap identity remain available. Shared Cloud video storage has the separate expiry period selected for each upload.
7. Beat Files, exports, and third-party sharing
Videos, audio-only exports, and Beat Tap Beat Files are created locally. If you share them through AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Files, Dropbox, another app, or another service, that destination handles the file under its own privacy policy. Imported .beatsong files are read locally to populate audio and beat timing.
8. Diagnostics, website, and support
Apple diagnostics
Apple may provide developers with App Store Connect, TestFlight, or system diagnostic information when users choose to share diagnostics with Apple or use TestFlight. This may include crash reports, performance diagnostics, installation information, and aggregated app analytics. We use it only to understand bugs, crashes, performance, and product quality.
Website and service logs
Beat Tap's public website is hosted by Hostinger and the cloud service is hosted by Cloudflare. These providers may process ordinary technical request information such as IP addresses, dates, security events, and browser or device details. Beat Tap does not intentionally add advertising or analytics cookies to its public policy and support pages.
Support messages
If you contact support, we receive the email address or social account you use and any information or attachments you choose to provide. We use support messages to respond, investigate issues, and improve Beat Tap. Avoid sending sensitive information unless it is needed.
9. Retention, deletion, and your choices
Local data remains on your device until you remove it, clear the relevant project, delete Beat Tap, or iOS removes temporary or cached data. Files already exported or shared outside Beat Tap remain wherever you saved or sent them.
Use Settings → Delete All Local Data to remove saved projects, the current edit, imported working copies, downloaded Shared Cloud videos, beats, thumbnails, preferences, caches, and temporary files after two confirmation steps. This removes local data only.
Folder owners can delete an active cloud folder from the Shared section. Otherwise, uploaded media and cloud thumbnails are scheduled for deletion when the selected retention period expires. Deleting the cloud copy does not delete downloaded copies already stored on other people's devices.
Purchase, balance, debit, refund, and fraud-prevention records may be kept as needed to preserve remaining Cloud Balance, prevent duplicate transactions, reconcile Apple refunds, resolve disputes, and meet legal or accounting requirements. To request deletion of eligible server or support data, contact us. Deleting the Apple-linked cloud identity may permanently remove access to remaining Cloud Balance and owned-folder history.
See the complete data-deletion instructions.
10. Security and international processing
Beat Tap uses the iOS app sandbox, encrypted HTTPS transfers, signed Apple transaction verification, private cloud storage, limited-duration sharing codes, and service-side access controls. No device, storage, or transfer method can be guaranteed completely secure or free from loss, so keep your originals and backups.
Apple, Cloudflare, Hostinger, and their infrastructure may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their contractual, legal, and security safeguards.
11. Children
Beat Tap is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Children should use the app, media sharing, and purchases only with permission and guidance from a parent or guardian.
12. Changes and contact
If Beat Tap's data practices change, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures where required. The effective date identifies the latest published version.
